About Jon

Born and raised in Denver, Colorado, Jon Stevenson has been a filmmaker since his formative years. His father worked as a local news videographer, so Jon often found himself tagging along to breaking news stories. Growing up around the lights and cameras, he found himself drawn to the industry. By middle school, he was making Matrix and Jackass parody films with his friends in the backyard, using whatever cameras they could find.
He would go on to make films throughout high school, often convincing teachers to let him make a short film in lieu of a term paper. After graduating from D’Evelyn High School in 2005, he bought his first professional camera and started filming weddings. Eventually transitioning into local freelance videography, Stevenson was able to pay his own way through college at the University of Colorado and Colorado Film School.
In 2010, Jon Stevenson co-founded and operated a production company in Denver, producing commercials and branded video content various clients. The fast-paced environment was the perfect training ground for Stevenson, who sought to aim higher.
In 2017, he left his company and wrote and directed the feature film, Rent-A-Pal. The film was sold to IFC Midnight for theatrical release in 2020. Despite being released at the height of COVID, Rent-A-Pal opened to positive reviews, earned multiple nominations and awards, and even amassed a modest cult following. As of 2024, Jon is currently in development for a handful of other films in the horror, thriller, and sci-fi genres, and is represented by Josh Dove at Circle of Confusion.
